With over 60 years’ experience in the industry, InterContinental is one of the most successful hotel brands across the Globe. The InterContinental Hotel in Frankfurt Germany is located in the city centre overlooking the river Main, with 467 rooms and a wide range of facilities including a large meeting room on the 21st floor. To meet demand the hotel needed to update their payment infrastructure to a faster, more efficient solution that was PCI compliant.
By implementing the 3C Payment solution, InterContinental Frankfurt is now able to process EMV transactions with a fully integrated standardized infrastructure, using Oracle POS & PMS systems and leveraging the 3C Payment Oracle Gold Partner Status.
A Full Solution from One Provider
InterContinental Frankfurt needed to replace their old mag-swipe system to become fully PCI compliant. Under the old system, staff had to take the card from the customer and manually swipe or enter card details. Not only was this inefficient during busy check out periods, but it did not comply with PCI regulations, and attracted higher acquiring fees. Staff were also required to telephone the acquirer when handling reversal authorizations. This process was time consuming and the system provided no confirmation the reversal was complete.
InterContinental Frankfurt selected the 3C solution after a full market review. “Only 3C Payment was able to provide everything we needed in a Hospitality solution all through one provider. We have a full solution integrated with Oracle Opera PMS system and the Oracle Simphony POS with Pay @ Table. The 3C solution met all our success criteria and offered the most competitive industry rates”, explains Thomas Weidlich, IT Manager.
Innovation and Support Adds Value
“The on-boarding process was very straightforward”, continues Thomas Weidlich. “I completed the technical requirements in advance with the 3C team, and the terminals came pre-configured which made things much easier. The 3C Portal is also very efficient for handling reversal authorizations where we can print a confirmation straight away”.
In addition, 3C were able to provide a Pay @ Table feature that has improved the customer experience. “InterContinental Frankfurt was one of the first hotels in Frankfurt to implement Pay @ Table”, continues Thomas Weidlich. “Our staff no longer have to go back to the workstation. They can recall bill information and print a receipt from the terminal and customers can pay with card or cash. It’s a huge time-saver, and as its Wi-Fi enabled, we can use it anywhere throughout our hotel including for room service”.
InterContinental Frankfurt is already exploring options with 3C Payment to implement a secure Tokenisation service to simplify the whole payment process and support the hotels continued success. “3C Payment will remain an integral part of our payment strategy for future growth”, concludes Thomas Weidlich.
